Level One

The Seasons series is an exciting addition to the publications of the Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music.

The Level One collection features 24 pieces by 20 composers from across Canada. Some names will be familiar along with a number of new composers. Students will enjoy seeing photos of the composers included with the biographies. This collection is useful as a resource for a variety of functions and levels: Canadian content for festivals, recitals, examinations, sight reading, quick study, and supplemental material.

Take a journey through the year with two pieces for each month featuring a wide variety of styles, metres, tonalities and pedagogical concepts. This collection includes simple, irregular and compound metres. To facilitate the learning process, measure numbers and suggested fingerings have been included. Program notes (at the back) enhance the enjoyment of each piece.

CNCM is proud to provide a voice for Canadian composers as well as educate and share Canadian repertoire with young pianists. The result is a delightful assortment of pieces for the 21st century student by Canadian composers who inspire the imagination of the performer. Enjoy the exploration!
