Home Run for Seaforth! is a fun piece about a ball game in the small town of Seaforth, Ontario, near my rural childhood home. The piece begins with a glissando which represents the ball being hit and flying far afield. The fast sixteenth note passages represent the batter running around the bases and, in the last measure, sliding in at home plate for a home run. The added chromaticism in measures 3 to 7 and the whole tone scale passages in measures 8 to 9 give the piece a fresh, light-hearted sound. The piece is to be played at a lively tempo with steady scale passages and exciting dynamics.
