Use the power of habit.

Practicing is easier when it becomes an automatic habit! Practice the same time everyday to get into natural rhythms of practice. If you choose a time like after dinner, and always practice after dinner, then practice becomes a natural habit.

Slow and steady wins the race.

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. You will learn your pieces better and faster in the long run if you play the pieces SLOWLY. Taking it slow allows you to play the correct notes, fingering, and rhythm everytime you practice.

Make time to memorize your music.

Memorizing your music enlists in the help of your ears, eyes, and analytical mind. Plus it allows you to use your piano skills anywhere you go!

Take breaks and practice with concentration.

Several short practice sessions with concentration far outweighs the benefit of a mega practice session! Don't try to practice with the TV on in the background and make sure to take breaks when you are tired.

Listen to what your body tells you.

Take breaks when you are tired and never practice through pain. Listen to what your body is saying. If your wrists hurt, take a break. If you are getting frustrated, take a break. Short periods of consistent practice is the most efficient. Playing the piano should be fun! Go out, practice, and have fun!
